Wife & mother in law murder: Life sentence for two people
The court sentenced two defendants to life imprisonment in the sensational wife-mother-in-law murder case in Sadullapur village of Habiganj's Nabiganj upazila. In addition, a fine of 5 lakh taka and imprisonment for another 5 years has been ordered. Habiganj Additional District and Sessions Judge (1) at 1 pm on Monday. Azizul Haque delivered the verdict.
The convicts are Taleb Mia (29) son of Anwar Hossain of Amoil village of Nabiganj upazila and Zakaria Ahmed Shubo (25) son of Hafizur Rahman of Hossainpur village. They were present in the court when the verdict was delivered.
The details of the case are known that on May 13, 2018, around 11:00 p.m. in Sadullapur village of the upazila, the people of the village came out of the house of Akhlaq Chowdhury Gulzar, an expatriate of England, after hearing 'fire fire' and found his mother Mala Begum (50) and his wife Rumi Begum (22) covered in blood. Seen lying in the state. Later, they were rescued and taken to the Nabiganj Upazila Health Complex, where the doctor on duty declared them dead.
Nabiganj Thana Police went to the hospital after receiving the information and made a condition report of the two bodies. Later, the brother of Rumi Begum, who was killed in the incident, filed a murder case against Taleb and Shubo at Nabiganj police station the next day. Later, on the orders of the Superintendent of Police, the Detective Police (DB) got the responsibility of investigating the case. On August 11, 2018, the Detective Police (DB) filed a charge sheet in the court of the then OC Shah Alam keeping these two as defendants.
Expressing satisfaction with this verdict, advocate Saleh Ahmed, the lawyer of the state side, said that the two defendants could not stop their malice and killed their mother-in-law and wife. These two also gave a confessional statement in the court. The court gave this verdict today after receiving the testimony of 31 of the 32 witnesses in the case.
