BGB Seizes Indian Cigarettes Worth Tk 6.77 Lakh in Kulaura

A special anti-smuggling operation conducted by Sreemangal Battalion (46 BGB) in the border areas of Kulaura Upazila, Moulvibazar, led to the arrest of a smuggler and the seizure of a large consignment of illegal Indian cigarettes.

The operation was carried out on Wednesday night in the Muraichhara and Dattagram border areas under Kulaura Upazila. During the drive, a Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) patrol team apprehended one smuggler and recovered 3,384 packets of illegal Indian cigarettes from his possession.

According to BGB sources, the estimated market value of the seized cigarettes is Tk 676,800.

Sreemangal Battalion (46 BGB) stated that strict security measures are being maintained around the clock across the border areas of Kulaura, Kamalganj, and Sreemangal upazilas under its jurisdiction. In addition to border protection, regular and special patrols, intelligence-based surveillance, prevention of illegal push-ins, and anti-smuggling operations are being carried out with increased vigilance.

The battalion further noted that it is responsible for securing approximately 115 kilometers of border area. BGB personnel continue to perform their duties with professionalism, vigilance, and dedication to prevent drug trafficking, illegal goods smuggling, and other cross-border crimes.

Sreemangal Battalion (46 BGB) also affirmed that its ongoing anti-smuggling operations will continue with greater intensity in the future to safeguard border security and protect national interests.
