`Special train` will run on Sylhet-Chandpur route from today

Bangladesh Railway is launching a pair of special trains on the Sylhet-Chandpur railway for the first time for the convenience of homebound passengers on the upcoming Eid. Eid special train will be launched from today Tuesday (April 18) afternoon. It will continue till April 27. However, it will be closed on Eid day.

In this regard, a notification signed by ACOPS (East) Kamal Akhtar Hossain on behalf of the Chief Operating Superintendent (East) of Bangladesh Railway has published the date and schedule of the special train.

It is known that Eid Special Train-9 and 10 will run on Sylhet-Chandpur route. The Eid Special-9 train will start its journey today, Tuesday. Traffic will be closed on Eid day until the day before Eid. It will operate again from the day after Eid until April 27. On the other hand, Eid Special-10 will start from April 19. It will also run until the day before Eid and will be closed on the day of Eid and reopened on the next day until April 27. Eid Special-9 will leave Sylhet at 4:40 PM for Chandpur. Will arrive at 12:15 PM. And Eid Special-10 will leave Chandpur at 4 am and reach Sylhet at 12 noon. Each train will have 514 seats.

According to railway sources, after the approval of the Prime Minister, the railways is examining the feasibility of a new train on the route and forming an opinion. The train is likely to be commissioned by this year with new rakes from Indonesia. And with the aim of finalizing this process, 'special train' is being started experimentally on this route around Eid.

In this regard, Station Manager of Sylhet Railway, Md. Nurul Islam said, "Eid Special Train" has been taken to make the joy of Eid journey more colorful for the passengers. Railway authorities have decided to launch these 'special trains' mainly to reduce the suffering of passengers during Eid. However, the special train will remain closed on Eid.

He also expressed hope that regular trains will be started on this route as the 'Special Train' has been launched
