Tamim Iqbal joins universal pension scheme

Bangladesh opener and former ODI captain Tamim Iqbal registered for the universal pension scheme. He registered for the pension scheme on August 17 -- the first day of its launch.
Tamim was seen registering for the universal pension scheme in a video published on the verified Facebook page of mobile-based financial service provider “Nagad” on Sunday.
Tanvir A Mishuk, founder and managing director of Nagad, accompanied Tamim. In the video, Tamim said: "On August 17, the honorable prime minister launched the pension scheme for all. Through this scheme, the future of many of us will be secured.”
He added that the pension scheme is a milestone for Bangladesh. “We have taken another step forward in the dream of becoming a developed state through this initiative.”
A universal pension scheme has been launched for the first time to bring Bangladesh's senior citizens under a sustainable and well-structured social security framework and provide protection to the 85% of the society who are employed in the low-income sectors.
Anyone above the age of 18 can come under the pension scheme by paying contributions, except government employee.
