Beyond the Color of Skin

Beyond the Color of Skin

Jannatul Ferdous Doly

I am only human—
Standing beyond the borders of skin,
Beyond the walls of color,
I speak out against racism.
You, I, we—
We all live under the same shade,
So why, again and again,
Do you strike at the gates of skin?
Your temple, my mosque,
Their church—
Together, they shape who we are,
One shared map of this world.
Your streets, your courtyards,
Even the benches of your schools
Echo with the sound of my footsteps,
Yet why, in the name of equality,
Do you search for differences?
I smile with an open heart,
Witnessing your unguarded joy,
Then why do you leap, without reason,
Into anger and envy?
This conflict, this arrogance—
Why do you carry them so heavily?
Does this war offer peace,
Or does it only spread fear and insecurity?
No peace will ever come, my brother,
If you choose the path of division.
You and I—marked by the same red blood,
Then why do you name us
White or Black?
