Sreemangal Gears Up for PM Visit, MP Inspects Venue

Extensive preparations are underway in Sreemangal ahead of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s visit on June 17. He is scheduled to inaugurate the third phase of the Family Card Expansion Program. The upcoming visit has generated enthusiasm among local authorities, the municipality, and leaders and activists of the BNP and its affiliated organizations.
On Friday morning, Member of Parliament for Moulvibazar-4, Mujibur Rahman Chowdhury, inspected the proposed venue at Sreemangal Victoria High School Ground. Representatives from Dhaka-based Bell Event Management were also present during the inspection.
In preparation for the Prime Minister’s visit, beautification and infrastructure improvement works are being carried out across Sreemangal Municipality and surrounding areas. Land filling, painting, stage construction preparations, and various environmental enhancement activities have already begun at the Victoria High School Ground.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md. Ziaur Rahman confirmed the Prime Minister’s scheduled visit to Sreemangal on June 17.
A visit to the area revealed that old banners and posters are being removed from roadsides throughout the municipality. Various decorative works are also progressing to make the venue more attractive and suitable for the event.
According to organizers, the Family Card distribution program will be launched as part of the BNP’s election manifesto commitments. On the day of the inauguration, 184 beneficiaries from Ward No. 1 of Mirzapur Union will receive Family Cards.
Among those present during the venue inspection were UNO Md. Ziaur Rahman, Assistant Commissioner (Land) Muhibullah Akon, Municipal Executive Engineer Md. Zahirul Islam, District BNP Convener Committee Member Durud Ahmed, Upazila BNP Convener Md. Nurul Alam Siddiqui, Municipal BNP Convener Shamim Ahmed, Upazila Jubo Dal Convener Mohiuddin Jaru, journalists, and leaders and activists of BNP and its affiliated organizations.
Local BNP leaders said that all necessary preparations are being undertaken to ensure the success of the Prime Minister’s visit. Ground development, beautification, and essential infrastructure works are progressing rapidly.
Speaking after the inspection, MP Mujibur Rahman Chowdhury said, “On June 17, Honorable Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will inaugurate the Family Card distribution program in Sreemangal. He will personally distribute Family Cards among the beneficiaries. After the event in Sreemangal, he will also visit Rajnagar. Discussions are ongoing regarding stage construction and other arrangements to ensure the successful organization of the program.”
