Bangladesh Caterers Association UK Announces New Leadership

The Bangladesh Caterers Association UK (BCA) has announced its new leadership following its Annual General Meeting (AGM) and election, held on Sunday at a venue in London.

Members elected Oli Khan MBE as the organisation's new President, while Tipu Rahman was elected Secretary General and Faizul Haq was chosen as Chief Treasurer.

The newly elected executive committee will lead the organisation during the next term, representing the interests of the UK's Bangladeshi-owned restaurant and catering sector.

The AGM reviewed the association's activities over the past year and discussed future priorities, as well as the key challenges currently facing the hospitality industry. Members also exchanged views on a range of issues affecting the sector.

Speakers highlighted the significant contribution made by Bangladeshi-owned restaurants and catering businesses to the UK economy. They noted that the industry supports thousands of jobs and that Bangladeshi entrepreneurs continue to play a leading role in the success of Britain's internationally recognised curry industry.

In a joint statement, President Oli Khan MBE, Secretary General Tipu Rahman and Chief Treasurer Faizul Haq thanked members for their confidence and support.

They said they were honoured to have been entrusted with the responsibility and pledged to work closely with the newly elected National Executive Committee to build a stronger, more effective and forward-looking organisation.

The new leadership said its priorities would include promoting members' interests, supporting business growth, assisting new entrepreneurs, addressing skills shortages, strengthening engagement with government and industry stakeholders, and contributing to the continued development of the British curry industry.

They also acknowledged the challenges currently facing the sector, including rising operating costs, recruitment difficulties and wider economic pressures. They said the association would continue to work with relevant government bodies and industry partners to help ensure the long-term sustainability of the sector.

Members expressed confidence that the experience and leadership of the newly elected executive committee would further strengthen the Bangladesh Caterers Association UK and enhance the reputation and unity of the Bangladeshi catering and restaurant industry across the United Kingdom.
